IMSA: Greaves evaluating Daytona Prototype international campaign
British LMP2 team owner Tim Greaves is at Sebring meeting with IMSA and Daytona Prototype international manufacturers to evaluate a WeatherTech SportsCar Championship program.
"That's one of the prime reasons I'm here," Greaves told RACER. "I want to meet and greet with all of the people behind the cars to see what's possible for us. People have said we'd do well in America, I've had businesses here before, and it's tough to be successful here, but we've been keeping our eye on things, and with DPi, we think there could be something here for us. We want to learn about the cars, the teams, those [teams] that are committed to manufacturers, because we don't want to steal anyone's breakfast."

"We're always planning three years ahead," he said. "Some of the things that have arrived and we've achieved have come from that planning. Coming in early and hooking in with someone who has a vision, and maybe has some [Prototype] history, would be helpful. It always helps if the person you're partnered with understands the business.
"We were last here racing [at Sebring] in 2013, so from here to now, it's nice to see the DPs arrive and walking up and down pit lane, everyone seems settled, comfortable. That was quite encouraging."
Provided it materializes, the timing for a Greaves Motorsports DPi program is unclear, but the motivation to make something happen in the near term was obvious, and it would not happen at the expense of Greaves' existing programs.
"Realistically, to come here, we'd definitely keep in the European series, race at Le Mans, maybe even consider a WEC program," he said. "We tried to do that this year, but the budget didn't materialize. We'd need to set up a facility here, find premises. We've had some offers from friends. For us, to come over and do what we do on Europe here is relatively easy, but we want to move up a notch. We'd hoped to be involved in [WEC] P1, but the P1 grid appears to be going in the wrong direction. Over here, there are opportunities."
