GP2: Lynn set to remain with DAMS in 2016
GP2 Series front-runner and Williams Formula 1 protege Alex Lynn is looking increasingly likely to remain with DAMS for his second season in the category.
Lynn, who won two races on his way to sixth in the points in his rookie GP2 campaign, remained with DAMS to drive on two days in last week's post-season Abu Dhabi test. The 22-year-old Briton finished two of the four sessions he completed at the foot of the times, and suggested that he and DAMS were working on race set-ups in preparation for 2016.
"Everything's still yet to be decided, but the plan is to do GP2 next year and improve to try and win the championship," said Lynn. "In that sense we were geared around trying to improve our weaknesses this year, which is more race pace than qualifying pace.
"This year has been a really good year with the team – they know how to win championships, know what they need to do and what I need to do."
Formula Renault 3.5 graduate Nicholas Latifi, who has also contested some GP2 rounds, has been strongly tipped for the other DAMS seat. The Canadian drove all three days of the Abu Dhabi test with DAMS, finishing as fastest on the second day. This would suggest that Red Bull junior Pierre Gasly is moving on for 2016.
The Frenchman has been linked with GP2 newcomer Prema Powerteam, with which he ran for two days in Abu Dhabi, while he drove on the other day with Russian Time.
