Nissan to defend Bathurst 12 Hours crown

Nissan will defend its Bathurst 12 Hours crown next February with a solo factory-backed GT-R NISMO GT3. The Japanese manufacturer, which took a dramatic victory in last year's event with Wolfgang Reip, Katsumasa Chiyo and Florian Strauss, will again make its entry under the NISMO Athlete Global Team banner.

The car will be run in the event around the Mount Panorama circuit on Feb. 7 by RJN Motorsport with the support of Nissan's V8 Supercars squad. The driver lineup for the event, which must include one driver of silver or bronze rating, will be announced at a later date.

Nissan has also announced that the winner of the international branch of its GT Academy gamer-to-racer scheme, Australian Matt Simmons, will race in the Blancpain Endurance Series with RJN in 2016.

Nissan and RJN will not contest the Dubai 24 Hours, in which it has traditionally given Academy winners their first international race start, in January and will instead focus on its BES preparations.
