INDYCAR: KVSH considering single entry in 2016
KVSH Racing could reduce to a single entry next season if the right driver cannot be found to partner with Sebastien Bourdais.
The Frenchman earned two wins last season in the No. 11 Chevy, and did so without much help from his crash-prone rookie teammate Stefano Coletti.
Coletti has exited the team, leaving KVSH owners Kevin Kalkhoven, Jimmy Vasser, and James Sullivan to evaluate whether seeking a replacement for Coletti would benefit the program, or if placing all of KVSH's resources behind the No. 11 entry would improve its fortunes.
"We're still in discussions with a number of potential sponsors for both the first car and potentially a second car," Kalkhoven told RACER. "However, we would not entertain a second car unless we were very confident they would be a good teammate for Sebastien, and an overall help for the team."
Bourdais is said to favor a single-car program, and with the recent success of Graham Rahal's single Rahal Letterman Lanigan entry, KVSH could follow suit unless a compelling driver and budget can be found.
"It's not just a question of filling a seat," Kalkhoven added. "We very much want to make sure we have the right combination, and if we that combination doesn't exist, then we will just run one car."
