DTM: Ludwig and Asch's sons get test

The sons of former DTM drivers Klaus Ludwig and Roland Asch will test the series' modern machinery with Mercedes next week at Jerez.

Luca Ludwig and Sebastian Asch will trade their ADAC GT Masters title-winning SLS AMG GT3 for Mercedes' DTM C-Coupe at the Portuguese circuit on Monday, Nov. 30. The pair won three races during the season on their way to the championship, two decades after their fathers' time in the DTM.

Klaus Ludwig won two of his three DTM titles with Mercedes, in 1992 and '94, and is also a three-time Le Mans 24 Hours winner.

"Christmas is coming early for Sebastian and me this year," Luca Ludwig said. "We've had a great season in the ADAC GT Masters and this test definitely puts the icing on the cake – many thanks to Mercedes-AMG for placing their trust in me and making it possible to test a DTM car.

"This is a very emotional moment for me, since I can remember my childhood and teenage years, growing up as a son and fan of the Mercedes-Benz family and following all the races. To see the Ludwig name associated with a Mercedes-Benz DTM car once again after a gap of over 15 years makes me feel tremendously proud."

Roland Asch drove for Mercedes in the DTM between 1985 and 1994.

"The SLS AMG GT3 is a fantastic racing car, with which I've now twice won the ADAC GT Masters championship title," Sebastian Asch said. "I'm really pleased to be testing another Mercedes-Benz championship winner, the Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM. November 30 can't come soon enough!"
