GP3: Kirchhofer tops title combatants
Marvin Kirchhofer topped a frenetic GP3 practice session in Abu Dhabi, from title rivals Luca Ghiotto and Esteban Ocon.
ART Grand Prix driver Kirchhofer ran in the top three for much of the session but was able to jump to the top of the timesheets with a 1m56.070s on his final lap.
In a hectic closing moments that resembled qualifying, Ghiotto improved on his last run to pip his rival Ocon to second. The Trident driver was one of the last drivers to set a time early on, and was down the order after his opening few laps.
Mercedes protege Ocon on the other hand was fastest for much of the session.
Koiranen GP's Matt Parry was another late improver in fourth, just ahead of Arden International driver Kevin Ceccon and team-mate Jimmy Eriksson. Ralph Boschung was seventh, from Ferrari junior Antonio Fuoco, Pal Varhaug and Matheo Tuscher who rounded out the top 10.
