WEC: Adam to race GTE Pro Aston Martin

British GT Championship frontrunner Jonny Adam will race a GTE Pro class Aston Martin in the World Endurance Championship for the first time at the Nurburgring this weekend.

The Aston Martin Racing factory driver will contest the fourth round of the series aboard the #97 Vantage GTE alongside team stalwarts Darren Turner and Stefan Mucke. The drive follows a testing outing during free practice in the same car at the Spa WEC round in May and will be the 30-year-old's first race in the world championship since two late-season appearances aboard a GTE Am Aston in 2013.

"The GTE version of the Vantage has slightly less power but more aerodynamic grip than the GT3 car, so you have to be very precise and understand how to consistently extract the best from it across every lap," said Adam, who won the second British GT race at Snetterton last weekend in his regular Beechdean Aston V12 Vantage. "That suits my driving style and I know the Nurburgring GP circuit having been there already this year, so hopefully I can play my part in delivering a strong result for AMR in what is one of the biggest events on the calendar."

Adam is set to graduate to an international programme in 2016, most likely in the European Le Mans Series, with the Beechdean squad whose owner Andrew Howard has purchased a V8 GTE.
