17 races in three countries for IndyCar in 2027

The IndyCar Series will hold 17 races in 2027 and add its first event outside North America since 2013 with a July trip to Spain. The schedule also contains two farewells with the exits of Nashville Superspeedway and the Washington, D.C. Grand Prix; Texas Motor Speedway, which was rumored to return, is not included in the calendar.

Across the 17 races broadcast on FOX’s main network channel, the series has five street courses, seven road courses and five ovals to offer.

With the loss of Nashville, the oval-heavy close to the 2026 season has changed with the late-August doubleheader in Milwaukee serving as the only oval challenge after the June event at World Wide Technology Raceway. After WWTR, six of the final eight races are on roads and streets.

The departure of Washington, D.C. and Nashville at the same time also creates a regional vacuum for IndyCar on the East Coast and in the northern portion of the Southeast.

Pacing throughout the calendar is more relaxed compared to the 2026 schedule, which stacked four races in March and closed with five consecutive weekends of racing that sent teams sprinting from coast to coast. For 2027, it’s three straight races in March and a finish to the year with only two consecutive weekends across the end of August and the start of September, with the penultimate weekend in Milwaukee and the closer in California at Laguna Seca.

The completion of the schedule comes two-and-a-half months after IndyCar shared Phase 1 of the calendar.

“The 2027 season will build off a record-shattering and landmark year for the IndyCar Series,” Penske Entertainment President and CEO Mark Miles said. “The sport’s growth has been immense, driving incredible viewership gains, reaching new fans in younger demos and attracting increased commercial interest from emerging and long-term partners. Our relationship with FOX Sports continues to set an industry standard, and this schedule will help us build on all of these gains and take things to the next level.”
