GP3: Ocon penalized, Bernstorff inherits win
Mercedes junior Esteban Ocon has lost his GP3 race one win at Spa following a five-second time penalty for breaching safety car rules.
ART Grand Prix driver Ocon picked up the penalty for exceeding the virtual safety car speed at Blanchimont before the green lights were shown at the race's third and final restart. The penalty demotes Ocon to second, and means Arden International driver Emil Bernstorff picks up his first win of the season.
Several other GP3 drivers also received grid and time penalties following race one at Spa.
Status Grand Prix driver Seb Morris picked up a five-place grid penalty for causing a collision with Jenzer Motorsport's Pal Varhaug at Les Combes but will start race two from the pitlane as he was only 19th on a 23-car grid.
Matheo Tuscher will also start from the pitlane due to his collision with Morris's team-mate Sandy Stuvik before the last restart.
Koiranen GP driver Jimmy Eriksson picked up a drive-through for jumping the start but served his penalty under the virtual safety car.
The stewards deemed this to be against the rules and awarded the Swede a 20s penalty, meaning he falls from fifth to 13th in the race one results. That elevates Alex Bosak to eighth and the race two pole ahead of Alex Palou.
