Letterman's late-night shows by the numbers

Many Indy car drivers -- and the Borg-Warner Trophy -- have been guests on the late-night network talk shows hosted by Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing co-owner David Letterman (see videos of some below). Also below are some numbers to note:

6,028 – Broadcasts of Letterman’s late-night talk shows (1,810 of “Late Night with David Letterman,” 4,214 of the “Late Show,” plus four prime-time specials).

1,135 – Weeks that the “Late Show” has run.

19,932 – Guest appearances in more than 33 years on Letterman’s late-night shows.

5,614 – Total Top Ten lists, including one by Graham Rahal.

126 – Total segments of Stupid Pet Tricks.

89 – Total segments of Stupid Human Tricks.

136 – Guest appearances by Regis Philbin, who holds the record.

11 – Different cities for the fictional Top Ten home office, with Nebraska the leading state with three cities. Indianapolis as not one.

1 – Bill Murray was the first guest on the premiere telecasts of both “Late Night” on Feb. 1, 1982, and “Late Show” on Aug. 30, 1993.

16 – Emmy Awards for the show.
