Kiss switches to rallycross full-time
Former open-wheel racer Tamas Pal Kiss will make a full time move to rallycross this season, including occasional appearances in the world championship.
The Hungarian, a race winner in GP3 in the past, will also compete in the Hungarian Rallycross Championship full time in a Skoda Fabia Supercar.
"I'm really happy to announce that I will continue my career in rallycross," said the 23-year-old, who was runner-up in Auto GP in 2014. "In my situation, it looks like a more promising route than staying in single-seaters.
"This will be a brand-new experience for me and I know I will have to learn a lot this year, but I also want to fight for the wins from the beginning. The Hungarian championship, which becomes more and more competitive, will provide me a perfect place for the learning process.
Kiss was offered several options over the winter to remain in single-seaters, but he felt he was unable to progress his career any further in circuit racing.
"It's no secret that I want to race at international level," he said. "This year we are also planning one or two appearances in the World Rallycross Championship, but in the near future I would like to make a full season there."
Kiss got his rallycross season underway last weekend at the Slovakiaring for the opening round of the Hungarian Rallycross Championship. Having set fastest time in the first qualification heat, he retired from the second heat with engine failure, putting him out of the event.
