Team Xtreme revealed that its No. 44 racecar (ABOVE) intended to be raced by Travis Kvapil in Sunday's NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Atlanta that was stolen outside the team's hotel, has been recovered. The car, which was found by Gwinnett County police officers, had been dumped off the side of the road, the team announced via Twitter on Saturday morning.

Xtreme had sent its racecar separately in a small trailer rather than in its main hauler due to the logistical issues that severe weather forecasts created for all NASCAR teams heading to the Atlanta event.

The pick-up truck that had been towing the car in its trailer has also now been recovered, the team says, and the racecar is now back at Xtreme's base for thorough checks, with the team intending to return for next weekend's Las Vegas Cup round.

Sunday's Atlanta race had been scheduled to be the first Sprint Cup start of the season for Kvapil, who finished 15th last weekend in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series opener at Daytona, but the team withdrew from the event following the theft.
