Formula E: No Miami grid penalty for Trulli

Former Formula 1 driver Jarno Trulli will not have to take a grid penalty for the next Formula E race, following a mix-up by the championship.

The series announced after the last race in Buenos Aires that Trulli, who retired from the event, would get a 10-place grid penalty for a gearbox change. However, Trulli's team has clarified that the gearbox was changed before the race following a qualifying accident, and that he had already served the penalty in Buenos Aires.

"We were in for a real surprise after the race when we saw the Formula E press release stating that Jarno would be penalised in Miami for gearbox change, as this isn't in line with the rules of the championship," said team boss Lucio Cavuto. "Upon asking the FIA to clarify the statement, it became clear that it had been an interpretation mistake on Formula E's side as we took the penalty in Buenos Aires."

The next Formula E race takes place on March 10 in Miami.
