IMSA: Series to implement enhanced track and pit lane lighting system

IMSA, sanctioning body for the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship, will test a series of track and pit lane lighting and information systems at the Roar Before the 24 test on Jan. 9-11, and plan to implement the systems for the upcoming TUDOR Championship and Continental Tire Series seasons.
IMSA alerted its competitors the following will procedures will be in place starting at the Roar:
· The TUDOR Championship and the Continental Challenge will continue to use the IMSA in-car Safety Light System indicating either a Full Course Yellow (FCY) or Red Flag condition.
· Yellow IMSA fence lights will be deployed at all tracks to augment the in-car light signals and yellow flags during session stoppages or FCY periods.
· Three (3) Pits Closed indication lights are placed: one (1) prior to pit-in for drivers, and two (2) spaced equidistant in pit lane for teams.
Pit Exit Light:
· New design for 2015.
· Wireless control with repeater indicator in Race Control.
· Approximately 50 inches tall when mounted vertically from the top of the pit wall (or horizontally over pit lane as may be necessary).
· 16 steady red LED lights in a single vertical column to indicate Pit Exit is closed.
· 1 red LED strobe light on top for 360° visibility when Pit Exit is closed.
· 4 steady green LED lights within the vertical column to indicate Pit Exit is open.
Team Alert Safety Light (TASL):
· Available for purchase from Motorsports Safety Electronics (MSE) is an optional new Team Alert Safety Light. The TASL receives the signals sent from Race Control for session stoppage, Full Course Yellow (FCY) and Pits Closed conditions.
· Also new for 2015 is a relay signal from the Pit Exit Light, also received by the TASL. The TASL is designed for use on team pit stands.
