World touring: Thompson excluded
Lada driver James Thompson has been retrospectively excluded from the results of the third and fourth rounds of the 2014 World Touring Car Championship at the Hungaroring and Slovakia-Ring.
Officials handed the penalty to the Briton after an unauthorised break to a seal on his engine's oil sump was found in Slovakia. The impact of the penalty is negligible as Thompson finished outside of the points in both meetings, finishing 13th and 14th position in Hungary and 14th in Slovakia.
The double British Touring Car champion and teammate Mikhail Kozlovskiy are set to start from the final row of the grid at the opening race at the Salzburgring this weekend, after Lada requested permission to change the engines in both Granta 1.6Ts.
Thompson set the 15th fastest time in the Salzburgring's two free practice sessions on Saturday.
