Auto GP: Pommer takes Morocco Race 2
Former Formula 2 race winner Markus Pommer took victory in the reversed-grid Auto GP race on the Marrakech street circuit.
Driving for reigning champion team Super Nova, the German started from pole position, after finishing eighth in Saturday's opening race of the season.
Pommer made no repeat of his poor race one getaway when his engine went into safety mode. Despite the attentions of Andrea Roda on his inside, Pommer led into Turn 1 and once established in the lead quickly extended a 5.7-second lead over Roda's Virtuosi team-mate Sam Dejonghe inside four laps.
That advantage was transferred into a 23.6-second margin of victory over race one winner Kimya Sato. Tamas Pal Kiss recovered from two pit stops to charge up to third for Zele Racing.
Eurotech racer Kevin Giovesi was once again in the wars and retired after his car was rammed by Richard Gonda on lap five.
Dejonghe was passed for second by Sato just three laps from home. After also losing out to Kiss, the Belgian was speared by a wayward Michele La Rosa at the final corner on the last lap. The Virtuosi driver's misfortune promoted his teammate Roda to fourth place, ahead of Michela Cerruti and La Rosa.
