"Rush" stunt double dies in road accident
A second racing driver who starred in the recent Formula 1 feature film "Rush" has been killed in a car accident.
Mauro Pane, 50 (pictured above with "Rush" director Ron Howard), was Daniel Bruhl's double in Rush and shot several of the racing scenes in the movie, was found dead in his car in Milan, after he evidently spun off the road and plunged into a canal. Police also recovered the body of an unidentified woman from next to him inside the car.
Pane was a wealthy businessman and former FIA Historic F1 champion who owned the ex-Niki Lauda Ferrari 312T2 that he drove in many scenes in "Rush."
Pane's death follows the passing four months ago of Sean Edwards, who played the part of his father Guy in "Rush," re-enacting the moment when his father pulled Lauda from the wreckage of his burning Ferrari at the Nurburgring in 1976.
