Todt officially re-elected by FIA

By

Jean Todt has been officially re-elected for a second term as FIA president following the annual general assembly in Paris.

The Frenchman was not facing any opposition as his sole rival David Ward pulled out of the election after failing to secure enough support to be nominated. Todt will therefore stay at the helm of the FIA for a second term of four more years. He became FIA president when he defeated Ari Vatanen in the 2009 election, during which they were rivals to succeed Max Mosley.

Prior to switching to motorsport politics, Todt had made his name in team management, first at Peugeot during its World Sportscar Championship program, then with the Ferrari Formula 1 team, which he led through its 1990s recovery and its domination of the early 2000s with Michael Schumacher.
