Road America and Watkins Glen for Radical Cup in 2027

A return to Road America alongside IndyCar, and a trip to Watkins Glen with Trans Am are among highlights of the 2027 Radical Cup North America schedule released Friday. In fact, the ’27 season marks the first time every round of the Radical Cup series will be held at spectator events, with the season commencing alongside USAC and IMSA races at Sebring and Sonoma.

“Radical Cup is an established pathway into IMSA and SRO sports car racing, as well as an alternative steppingstone into formula series such as Indy NXT,” said Radical Motorsport’s Tom Drewer. “We’re delighted to give our drivers, young and old, and more importantly, their sponsors, exposure to the widest range of motorsport fans possible. Thank you to Racing America, Road America and, of course, our sanctioning body USAC for making such an exciting schedule possible.”

While Sebring, Sonoma and the XPEL Grand Prix IndyCar Weekend at Road America have been staples of the Radical Cup calendar over the past few years, the series is returning to The Glen for the first time since 2022, when it raced during the Finger Lakes Wine Festival.

“The circuits we’re headed to are key for a driver’s future career, while also giving our customers – so many of whom come from private drive resorts – the chance to tick tracks off their bucket lists,” Drewer noted.

Each Radical Cup event features premium hospitality, livestreaming and plentiful track time. Three 40-minute races are coupled with qualifying and at least 60 minutes of practice. Five events in 2027 will include additional test sessions to help drivers get up to speed.

The series is known for producing Le Mans-style, multi-class racing at a fraction of the cost, with each of the four classes positioned with various drivers in mind.

Radical SR3s with 1340cc engines race in PRO 1340, attracting regional club racers from country clubs and NASA and SCCA ranks. The class is also a perfect first step into wings and slicks for junior drivers.

PRO 1500 is reserved for the top junior talent looking to make a mark, while GOLD uses the same SR3 1500 cc cars for drivers over 30.

Drivers over 30 may also compete in the PLATINUM class which features the 425hp SR10 model affectionately known as "the torque monster."
