Chinese manufacturer Geely expected to decide on Alpine WEC takeover in coming days

Crunch time is fast approaching for Alpine Hypercar service provider Signatech to secure its future in the top class beyond the 2026 season.

RACER understands that Chinese OEM Geely's key decisions on whether to purchase the current Alpine Endurance Team Hypercar program will likely be made after meetings early next week following Sunday's 6 Hours of Fuji.

Negotiations between Geely and Renault Group looked very positive during the summer break, with talks understood to be centered on overcoming intellectual property issues around control systems. Since then though, significant corporate obstacles have emerged, principally around parallel joint activities and ventures for road cars and powertrains between the two groups.

Should any transfer of the team's assets take place, the intention is understood to be a mild restyling of the current Alpine A424 ahead of homologation for 2027. 

If that occurs, the FIA WEC would field an unprecedented 10 two-car factory Hypercar teams next season, plus the returning privately-entered No. 83 AF Corse Ferrari 499P.
