
Dumas reclaims King of the Mountain crown at Pikes Peak
Romain Dumas secured his sixth career crown as King of the Mountain in today's 104th running of the Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, presented by Gran Turismo. The Frenchman drove his Ford Super Mustang Mach-E EV up the 12.42-mile, 156-turn course to the 14,115ft summit of "America's Mountain" in a blistering 8m18.202s. That was enough to take the overall victory over four-time King of the Mountain Robin Shute, who ran an 8m29.497s in his Sendycar V1 to to win the Super Unlimited class.
Reigning champion Simone Faggioli, who took pole position for the event with his Nova Proto NP01 ATM Bardahl Super Unlimited, was hampered by a technical issue during his assent but still managed a 8m32.997s to take third overall.
Other class winners included Dan Novembre in Open Wheel (9m01.689s), Billy Johnson in Pikes Peak Open (9m12.723s), JR Hildebrand in Time Attack 1 (9m30.104s) and Laura Hayes in Pikes Peak GT4 Trophy by Yokohama ‑ Turbo (10m17.538s).
Unlimited - Super Unlimited competitor Patrick Culligan crashed out at high speed. He was evacuated to UCHealth Memorial Central for further evaluation but was reported to be awake, alert and in stable condition.
