Hallman joins the RallyX Americas ranks

Following the high-profile arrival of 2019 World Rallycross champion Timmy Hansen, RallyX Americas has announced that Tommi Hallman will be joining the new series’ top class.

Hallman will race for SET Promotion, the same team that carried him to two wins and two second places in the Nitrocross NEXT EVO class' 2024-25 season before it was prematurely curtailed. Before that he won the Nitro Rallycross NEXT European title in 2022 and the NEXT World Final in ‘23 as well as the RallyX Lites title in 2021.

“This is awesome, I’m really looking forward to hitting the track at Crandon,” said Hallman. “To go racing in America has always been special to me and to do it now with this rocketship of a car together with SET, one of the most legendary teams in the sport, gives me goosebumps already.

“We’re building something new with RallyX Americas that feels valuable, and to make it at these iconic venues will create one heck of a show. For sure there’s going to be a lot to absorb in a short amount of time, but like always, I’m not here just to fool around, but to get to victory lane!"

The team was founded by brothers Jussi and Kalle Pinomaki, and in more than two decades of competition, has won 11 European Rallycross Championship titles, and recently a double-podium finish in the FIA European Rallycross Championship at Nyirad in Hungary.

“We have had an association with Tommi for a lot of years now in different programs, but never at the highest level of a championship,” said Jussi Pinomaki.

“This is a real opportunity for someone who has genuine talent to show what he can do.

“I really believe not only in Tommi, but in the potential of rallycross in North America and in an electric rallycross championship. A lot of effort has gone into making this happen, on all sides, and there are a lot of good names involved in RallyX Americas. We’re eager to get to Crandon and get this underway.”

Dominik often jokes that he was born in the wrong country – a lover of NASCAR and IndyCar, he covered both in a past life as a junior at Autosport in the UK, but he’s spent most of his career to date covering the sliding and flying antics of the U.S.’ interpretation of rallycross. Rather fitting for a man that says he likes “seeing cars do what they’re not supposed to do”, previously worked for a car stunt show, and once even rolled a rally car with Travis Pastrana. He was also comprehensively beaten in a kart race by Sebastien Loeb once, but who hasn’t been?
