Roger Penske named Grand Marshal for Sebring 12 Hours

As Team Penske celebrates its 60th anniversary season, team founder Roger Penske has been named the Grand Marshal of the 74th running of the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring next Saturday.

Penske will give the command for drivers to start engines, and take a pre-race lap of the circuit to acknowledge the fans in attendance.

“It’s only fitting that in Team Penske’s 60th season, and with the Porsche Penske Motorsports team back as defending champion of the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring, that one of the most significant individuals in the history of motorsports will serve as the Grand Marshal of this year’s race,” said Matt Muha, President and General Manager of Sebring International Raceway. “It is an honor for Sebring and the entire IMSA organization to have Mr. Penske here to give the command to start engines and to be recognized by Sebring fans for his many achievements.”

Porsche Penske Motorsport is coming off its third straight overall victory at the Rolex 24 At Daytona in January, and enters this year’s Twelve Hours of Sebring as the defending winner of the event.

Roger Penske himself is a two-time class winner at Sebring as a driver, with victories in 1961 and '63. Team Penske first raced in this event in its inaugural season of 1966; drivers Ben Moore and George Wintersteen, who steered the team’s first-ever class victory at that year’s Daytona 24 Hour Race, finished ninth overall and won the GT +5.0 class, the first of four Sebring wins for the organization.

Mark Donohue and Craig Fisher took class honors in a Penske Chevrolet Camaro in 1968, the famous Porsche RS Spyder of Timo Bernhard, Emmanuel Collard and Romain Dumas won overall in 2008, and last year, Felipe Nasr, Nick Tandy and Laurens Vanthoor drove the No. 7 Porsche 963 to GTP and overall victory.

These are among the over 660 race victories for Team Penske across multiple categories including IMSA, IndyCar, NASCAR and Formula 1 since the team was established in 1966.

“I have great memories of racing at Sebring as a driver and our race teams certainly have quite a history of competing at the track,” said Penske. “As we celebrate Team Penske’s 60th anniversary season in 2026, I am honored to be named Grand Marshal for this year’s Twelve Hours of Sebring race.”
