IndyCar announces grid penalties for Nashville
Christian Rasmussen’s victory donuts last weekend at the Milwaukee Mile were made with full awareness that the 2.2-liter twin-turbo V6 engine in his No. 21 Ed Carpenter Racing entry would be changed leading into this weekend’s Nashville Speedway event.
And despite knowing an engine change would be coming, the fresh motor for the season finale also pushed Rasmussen’s No. 21 Chevy into its fifth engine for the year, which comes with a nine-spot penalty for tomorrow’s 225-lap Borchetta Bourbon Music City Grand Prix.
PREMA Racing’s No. 90 Chevy driven by Callum Ilott also needed a fresh engine after it expired in Milwaukee; Ilott will also move nine positions rearwards for Sunday’s race.
Saturday night, IndyCar added the No. 6 ARROW McLaren entry of Nolan Siegel to the list getting grid penalties this weekend. Siegel, who had qualified a solid seventh, will have to take a nine-place penalty for tomorrow's race.
