Peugeot teases Cassidy addition to WEC squad

Nick Cassidy looks set to join Peugeot Sport’s FIA WEC Hypercar roster, following a teaser post from the French brand earlier today on social media.

On its official Instagram account, Peugeot Sport has shared a screenshot of a message exchange between it and Cassidy, in which Peugeot congratulates him on his most recent Formula E campaign, before confirming that he will be heading to Austin for Lone Star Le Mans next month.

“We booked you a flight to Austin this September. Let’s chat 2025/2026 FIA WEC plans, you in?” Peugeot’s message reads.

Cassidy then responds: “I can’t wait to catch up in Austin, let’s talk soon.”

Cassidy had previously been rumoured to be joining Peugeot’s driver squad following his exit from Jaguar’s team in Formula E. He is set to join the Stellantis driver roster in the all-electric series, where he is expected to join the team currently known as Maserati MSG Racing – that team is likely to rebrand to one of Stellantis' other brands next season, with Opel and Citroen speculated as the team's next identity.

The Kiwi, who has Super Formula and Super GT titles on his CV, as well as 11 wins in Formula E, has yet to race a Hypercar, but he does have WEC experience to draw from back in 2022 with AF Corse in GTE Am.

There is no word on who he would replace in the team’s six-driver squad, should he be confirmed as an official works driver. Paddock sources have suggested to RACER that he is not expected to be the only new face in the team next season.
