'Chasing Faster: The Next Gen Pit Crew' to debut on YouTube Jan. 19

WinShape Teams is set to release a new documentary focusing on how Joe Gibbs Racing has attacked pit stops with the current NASCAR Cup Series car.

‘Chasing Faster: The Next Gen Pit Crew’ premieres on YouTube on Friday, January 19. It features interviews with Joe Gibbs Racing executives, crew chiefs, and crew members.

Next Gen, the seventh iteration of the Cup Series car, debuted in 2022. Not only was it a new body style, but everything underneath was completely new to race teams.

Among the biggest changes was the single center-locking lug nut on each 18-inch wheel. JGR changed its approach to pit crews entirely -- not only introducing different choreography in how the crew executes pit stops, but also shaking up crew members' roles.

Gibbs spent time trying crew members at different positions to see what produced results and what role those individuals felt most comfortable in. The organization also opened up recruiting to find people who might not have had a racing background because new pit stops meant there didn’t need to be an established skill set.
