Harvick windshield violation leads to Talladega DQ
Kevin Harvick’s No. 4 Stewart-Haas Racing Ford has been disqualified from Sunday’s race at Talladega Superspeedway after failing post-race inspection for a windshield violation.
Per NASCAR, the windshield fasteners must be secure throughout the entire event. The violation falls under two sections of the NASCAR Rule Book: 14.5.6.2.F (windshield) and 14.1.E&P (overall assembled vehicle rules).
Harvick crossed the finish line second by 0.012s to Ryan Blaney in a photo finish.
Due to the disqualification, Harvick will be credited with a 38th-place finish (last) and one point. He does not get credit for finishing eighth in the second stage or the points awarded for the effort.
William Byron moves to second in the YellaWood 500 as the results are adjusted. Denny Hamlin moves to third place, Corey LaJoie fourth, and Austin Cindric completes the top five.
Stewart-Haas Racing does have the option to appeal the penalty to the No. 4 team.
