Crew chiefs fined after Kansas Cup race

Two Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series crew chiefs have been fined following Saturday's Digital Ally 400 at Kansas Speedway.

Paul Wolfe and Peter Sospenzo were both fined $10,000 by NASCAR according to Tuesday’s penalty report. Wolfe was the race-winning crew chief with Brad Keselowski and the No. 2 Team Penske Ford Mustang. Sospenzo is crew chief on the Spire Motorsports No. 77 Chevrolet.

Both cars had one unsecured lug nut at the end of the night race in Kansas. Per the NASCAR rule book, cars must have all five lug nuts secured on all four wheels at the end of the race. On the penalty scale, one lug nut not being unsecured or missing results in a fine; the penalty then increases for each unsecured or missing lug nut.

The race win for Wolfe and Keselowski was their third of the season and second together at Kansas.

Quin Houff drove the No. 77 at Kansas and the team finished 34th.
