Darrell Wallace Jr. was fastest in an abbreviated second practice session for the Daytona 500.

Wallace ran six laps in the session with his fastest lap being 195.020 mph in his Richard Petty Motorsports Chevrolet. Second fastest was Ty Dillon at 195.008 mph with David Ragan third quickest at 194.940 mph. Completing the top five were Ricky Stenhouse Jr. at 194.574 mph and Paul Menard at 193.586 mph.

Those drivers, along with Michael McDowell at sixth fastest (193.370 mph) were among those who ran in a pack. The rest of the top 10 were Martin Truex Jr. (191.824 mph), Alex Bowman (191.824 mph), William Byron (191.804 mph), and Chase Elliott (191.771 mph).

Rain ended the session after 23 of its scheduled 50 minutes.

There were no incidents in the session.

Three Toyota drivers paced Saturday’s first practice session. In a draft, Martin Truex Jr., Kyle Busch, and Erik Jones went to the top of the leaderboard with Truex running the fastest lap at 195.920 mph. Busch’s best lap was 195.852 mph while Jones ran 195.793 mph.

Fourth through seventh fastest on the leaderboard were also drivers who were drafting. Tyler Reddick was fourth fastest at 194.095 mph with Ty Dillon fifth fastest at 194.032 mph, Brendan Gaughan sixth fastest at 194.024 mph and Daniel Hemric seventh fastest at 193.928 mph.

Aside from those packs, there were mostly single-car runs during the 50-minute session.

Completing the top 10 on the speed chart were Matt DiBenedetto at 193.573 mph, Alex Bowman at 193.079 mph and Michael McDowell at 192.769 mph.

There were no incidents in the first session.

Kurt Busch, who was 34th on the speed chart (188.127 mph) ran the most laps in the session with 18.
