FIA entry list confirms Racing Point, Alfa Romeo
The FIA entry list for the 2019 Formula 1 season sees Racing Point confirmed as the new name for Force India, while the Sauber chassis will be known as Alfa Romeo Racing.
The former Force India team was renamed Racing Point Force India following the Lawrence Stroll-led consortium takeover last August, and then became Racing Point at the end of the season. At the time the team said it was only a holding name after entering the 2019 championship, and that a new identity would be unveiled ahead of pre-season testing.
However, it appears that for now, any planned changes to the name have been put on hold for this coming season, with the final FIA entry list for 2019 listing the team name as Racing Point F1 Team.
Racing Point’s 2019 livery will be unveiled during the Canadian International AutoShow in Toronto next week.
The entry list also shows the team name change for Sauber, which is officially entered as Alfa Romeo Racing. The chassis name is also Alfa Romeo, although the company name that runs the entry remains Sauber Motorsport AG.
There are a number of other previously announced tweaks compared to 12 months ago, with Ferrari’s full name becoming Scuderia Ferrari Mission Winnow, while Renault reverts from Renault Sport Formula One team in 2018 to Renault F1 Team this year.
Following the end of its Martini title sponsorship deal, Williams is officially entered as Williams Racing, while its own title partnership has seen Haas named Rich Energy Haas F1 Team. Haas will unveil its new livery -- teased to be similar to the classic JPS Lotus black and gold colors -- during an event in London on Thursday.
