Leavine team switches crew chiefs for Kahne
Leavine Family Racing has named Jon Leonard the interim crew chief for Kasey Kahne and the No. 95 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series team, effective immediately.
Leonard will assume the role after having previously served as the team’s lead engineer. He takes over for Travis Mack.
Mack (pictured at right, with Kahne) had joined the organization from Hendrick Motorsports to become a Cup Series crew chief for the first time. LFR did not state a specific reason for the change.
Kahne is 28th in points going into next weekend’s first road course race of the season at Sonoma Raceway. While he has led 13 laps, Kahne had not yet scored a top-10 finish.
