Legge tipped to join Foyt team for Indy 500

The final entry for the 110th running of the Indianapolis 500 is expected to have Katherine Legge confirmed as the driver of a Chevrolet-powered AJ Foyt Racing car featuring significant support from General Motors and her sponsors to complete the field of 33.

The Foyt team declined to comment when reached by RACER; Legge restated her intent to get back to the Speedway. “All I can say is I’m working hard to get back,” the Briton said.

RACER understands the decision made by GM and IndyCar to place Legge in the 33rd entry was finalized earlier this week and had multiple contenders who were vying for opportunity. Separate from the support offered by GM, Legge has been active across multiple racing series in recent years through committed sponsorship from cosmetics brand e.l.f.

Legge made her Indy 500 debut in 2012 with Dragon Racing, returned in 2013 with Schmidt Peterson Motorsports, came back in 2023 with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing, and made her last start in 2024 with e.l.f at Dale Coyne Racing. Foyt would mark the fifth team in five appearances; Legge’s best start of 29th place was earned in 2023 and her best finish came as a rookie with a run to 22nd.
