
Kahne tops second Talladega practice
Kasey Kahne was fastest in an uneventful final practice at Talladega Superspeedway.
After serving a 30-minute penalty, Kahne went to the top of the leaderboard at 191.222 mph. He was followed by his Hendrick Motorsports teammate Dale Earnhardt Jr. at 191.069 mph. Earnhardt also served a 30-minute practice hold following inspection issues the last few weeks.
The rest of the top five on the speed charts were Kurt Busch (190.257 mph), Trevor Bayne (190.102 mph) and Chase Elliott (189.729 mph).
Rounding out the top 10 were Paul Menard (189.504 mph), Brad Keselowski (188.645 mph), Landon Cassill (188.630 mph), Kevin Harvick (188.552 mph), and Chris Buescher (188.534 mph).
Kahne and Earnhardt were the only drivers to run 10 consecutive laps.
Only 23 cars practiced during the 55-minute session. There were no incidents.
