Mahindra retains Rosenqvist, Heidfeld in Formula E
Mahindra Racing will keep its driver lineup of Nick Heidfeld and Felix Rosenqvist intact for season four of the FIA Formula E Championship, which starts in December.
Rosenqvist, who the team says will partner with them on a long-term basis, was last season's top-scoring rookie, securing Mahindra's maiden victory at the Berlin E-Prix at Tempelhof in June. Combined with three poles, the Swedish driver secured third place in the drivers' and teams' championship, the team's highest championship standing to date in Formula E.
"I'm thrilled to be back for a second season in Formula E and to extend my relationship with Mahindra Racing. That was our mutual intention from the very beginning, and we've already completed a series of promising tests with the M4Electro in recent months. Moving into season four, I will draw on everything I learned in 2016-17 to try and lift us to the next level. It will be a massive challenge with stiff competition, but we have a solid foundation and are all fully-committed to taking the fight to the very best."
high praise from Chip Ganassi Racing
after a pair of successful Mid-Ohio tests – one in July 2016 and another last week – he told RACER in July he's still hopeful for a series ride."It's always been a dream to drive in IndyCar, and now I know that I can do well," he said. "We will have to see a bit further how it goes with all the talks
Of his globe-trotting schedule, he responded: "It's been a few good years for me. I put myself on the market a bit everywhere all over the world, and that was the plan. When I stopped doing Formula 3, I wanted to take every chance I could get and see how well I could do. It's coming to the point soon where I have to figure out what I want to do full-time."
Rosenqvist heads back to Japan this weekend for the penultimate round of the Super Formula championship, where he's third in the standings.
Heidfeld will stay with the team for a third season. He earned a podium finish in the season opener in Hong Kong, and came home third in Monaco, Paris and Berlin before taking home his and the team's final podium at the inaugural Qualcomm New York City E-Prix.

"I am proud to be part of Mahindra Racing where we have been going from strength to strength in Formula E," he said. "It's exactly where I want to be and I am delighted to extend my contract and commitment to target even more success. I am thrilled and can't wait to compete in my M4Electro in this ever-improving championship."
Mahindra has also once again tasked the fans with designing their livery for their season four championship contender, the M4Electro, and will look to add a reserve driver to their roster for the upcoming season.
