.With a race just days away at Watkins Glen in New York, the Foyt team diverted its team to Indianapolis to prepare its cars after Saturday night's Gateway event. Larry Foyt took to Facebook to give an update:
Several in the racing community have announced efforts to help victims of the hurricane and its aftermath in Texas. Juncos Racing announced Thursday it would collect donations at its shop on Friday that will be transported by team members to the Houston, Texas area next week. Pallets of bottled water, boxes of food, basic hygiene kits, diapers, and other items are being collected.
"We have several friends, team partners, and sponsors based in Texas, not far from the affected areas," Juncos Racing Chief Operating Officer Jayson Marksberry said. "Some still are attempting to find out if their loved ones and employees are safe. As we've been in touch with them, and have watched the scope of this disaster grow, we decided that we had to do something to help. Some folks have lost everything they owned. Getting them something to eat, something to drink, diapers for the youngest ones, it's the least we can do."
