Manor handed seven-minute penalty for 6H Nurburgring

The No. 24 CEFC Manor TRS Racing ORECA 07 Gibson has been handed a seven-minute stop-and-hold penalty, to be served in Sunday's 6 Hours of Nurburgring.

This penalty comes after Jonathan Hirschi overtook and made contact with the No. 66 Ford Chip Ganassi Team UK Ford GT at Turn 8 during the session's red flag period, causing Hirschi to spin the ORECA. The stewards considered this incident as a "serious fault from the driver of the No. 24."

The statement from the organizers continued to explain that "his (Hirschi's) explanations to check his speed limiter are not excusing his behavior."

In addition to that, there's a further seven-minute penalty for the driver, suspended for the next three WEC races. It would be imposed if Hirschi commits any further red-flag infringement during the Mexico City, COTA or Fuji events.

The penalty on Sunday will be served on the discretion of the Race Director.

The No. 24 CEFC Manor TRS Racing ORECA is not the only car that's set to serve a penalty during the race this weekend. The No. 26 G-Drive Racing ORECA will serve a three-minute stop-and-hold penalty during the race for Roman Rusinov's collision with the No. 88 Proton Competition Porsche in the Le Mans 24 Hours.
