GALLERY: Rossi's Borg-Warner likeness unveiled

Rossi's likeness was crafted by sculptor William Behrends, and when he saw the original castings back in September, Rossi express amazement.
"What Will was able to do, I mean, it blows my mind that he was able to get this so accurate just from pictures," said Rossi. "I am so far from being anywhere close to an artist but you can really appreciate what he’s done and I don’t even know where to begin in how you acquire such an amazing skill set.
"The specialness of being on the Borg-Warner Trophy and to be next to names that have such a legacy and history in the sport, guys I grew up admiring and watching and dreaming of one day being able to race at that level that they did.... Now to kind of be in the same sentence as them, is something that I don’t really think I fully understand yet."
Behrends, who has been sculpting the Indy winner's likeness for decades, drew inspiration from the youth of this year's winner.
"I started doing this in 1990, going to the race and doing these images, and back then A.J. Foyt, Mario Andretti and Rick Mears and Al Unser Jr. were in the cars racing," Behrends noted. "Now it’s another group of racers, another generation, and I’ve been lucky enough to have my work span those two generations. To see someone of his age, his youth, win the 100th Indianapolis 500 this year was really exciting. It gives you the feeling of a passing of the torch to a new generation of racers."
