IHRA: The path to the Summit World Finals
We've told you about the IHRA Summit World Finals, to be held at Memphis International Raceway, Oct. 20-23. But some of you have asked a rather obvious question: How do racers get there?
The format is slightly different from the 2015 race. The Summit SuperSeries is a $240,000 program leading to the World Championship for IHRA member track sportsman racers, who compete at more than 100 IHRA member tracks within regional IHRA divisions. The competitors are Sportsman racers or ET Bracket racers. The two tiers comprising the Summit SuperSeries are the Summit SuperSeries World Championship and the Summit Team Finals.
The Summit SuperSeries World Championship will crown a true Top (Box), Mod (No Box) and Junior Dragster World Champion. There are two ways to gain a spot in the Summit SuperSeries World Championship race: You can qualify for the Summit SuperSeries World Championship by either winning the Summit SuperSeries championship at your participating IHRA member track, or by winning the Summit Team Finals main event in your division.
Each IHRA member track will crown a Summit SuperSeries track champion, who will then move on to Summit World Finals for the Summit SuperSeries World Championship.
And each region will host a Summit Team Finals event for every IHRA division. Any Summit SuperSeries competitor that has an IHRA membership and a properly registered car, and wins the 2016 Summit Team Finals main event championship in their division, will become eligible for the Summit SuperSeries World Championship race.

Bottom line: The racers who compete in Memphis are the cream of the crop, all of them winners back home. And they'll be gunning for similar success on the big stage in Memphis. For more information on the race, log onto RaceMIR.com.
