INDYCAR: Power cleared to drive
Team Penske’s Will Power has been cleared to drive effective immediately after passing both cognitive tests at Florida’s University of Miami on Tuesday.

"Will is doing fine," said longtime IndyCar doctor Stephen Olvey. "He flew down to the University of Miami Concussion Center early this morning and we conducted two sophisticated tests to determine if he'd suffered a concussion over the weekend, and he passed both of them with no issue whatsoever."
Power sits 43 points behind teammate and Verizon IndyCar Series championship leader Simon Pagenaud. Without medical clearance to compete at the season finale on Sept. 18 at Sonoma Raceway, Pagenaud would have been crowned champion as Power is the only driver with a mathematical chance of toppling the Frenchman.
Also of value to Power is the ability to participate in the final open test of the season, which takes place Thursday at Sonoma. Every IndyCar team and full-time driver, barring KVSH Racing and Sebastien Bourdais, will be at the northern California road course to prepare for the title-deciding season finale.
With Power’s inclusion, the Australian, who won the 2014 IndyCar championship, will have the same opportunity as Pagenaud to tune his Chevy-powered car ahead of the big wine country showdown.
Thursday’s test, which runs from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. PT, is free and open to the public.
