F3: Scott called up to replace unwell Mazepin

Formula Renault Eurocup race winner Harrison Scott has been given a last-minute drive in this weekend's Masters of F3 at Zandvoort. The 20-year-old Briton, who lies third in the Eurocup points, will replace Nikita Mazepin at the Hitech GP team as the Russian is ill.

"Sadly, Nikita has been suffering from a virus all week," Hitech boss Oliver Oakes explained. "We thought it was subsiding but yesterday evening he got a fair bit worse and we took the unfortunate decision for him to give this weekend a miss. It's a shame as he's made a huge forward step in form in the last six weeks, but it's important he makes a full recovery before the next FIA round in a few weeks.

"We got Harrison in as he's been doing a good job in the Eurocup this season with AV. It will be hard for him jumping into F3 for the first time at a new track for him too, on top of a few hours' sleep, but I am sure he will cope fine  he's made of the right stuff."

Scott joins GP3 Series title contender Alexander Albon in the Hitech line-up, with Albon returning to F3 for a one-off at Zandvoort.

"It's a bit of a mixed bag for us, running two drivers jumping into F3 with no testing," added Oakes. "But we wanted to support the F3 Masters as it's a historic event and I'm sure both Alex and Harrison can do a good job for us."
