
INDYCAR: Dixon tops warm-up, but shunts
Scott Dixon posted quick time and then made an uncharacteristic mistake in Sunday morning's final practice session for the Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio.
The five-time winner here did a lazy spin in Turn 6 and hit the tire wall in his Target Chevy with minimal damage after posting a lap of 1:04.4 – just a fraction faster Josef Newgarden and defending champ Graham Rahal.
That trio were the only drivers under 1:05 on a hot, stuffy morning and Dixon will need all that speed since he's starting 11th after a communication error in qualifying that saw him not take advantage of his final set of optional tires.
