IHRA: President’s Cup preview - Nitro Harley
Who will take home the President's Cup in the Nitro Harley class from Maryland International Raceway this weekend?
If the first two events of the IHRA Drag Racing Series are any indication, the President's Cup Nationals could be too close to call.
Jay Turner edged out Rickey House at the Good Vibrations Motorsports Texas Nationals at San Antonio Raceway in April. At the AMSOIL Spring Nitro Nationals at Orlando Speed World in March, Randal Andras outpowered Jake Stordeur. All four racers are on the entry list for the President's Cup.
With the new paving job at Maryland International Raceway, it's a good bet that we can see some two-wheeled runs well in excess of 200mph. Turner, defending series champion, clocked the fastest run in Orlando at 227.46mph. In San Antonio, it was Turner again with a pass of 220.26mph.
Andras takes the points lead into Maryland, with 185, followed by Turner with 166, House just behind with 164, and Stordeur with 161.
Qualifying for the President's Cup is tonight, and final qualifying and eliminations are Saturday. For more information, log onto racemdir.com, or call (301) 884-9833.
