FE: Turvey won't miss Berlin after all

Oliver Turvey will contest the Berlin Formula E round after all as the clashing Autopolis Super GT event was postponed due to earthquakes.

The British driver's factory Honda commitments in Japan meant he was due to be replaced by Ben Hanley at the NEXTEV TCR team for the May 21 race. Serious earthquakes around Kyushu island, which is around 60 miles south of the Autopolis track, meant Super GT organisers postponed the round last month. NEXTEV TCR has now confirmed Turvey will race in Berlin instead.

"We are pleased that Oliver is able to compete in Berlin, we just wish it wasn't under such circumstances," said NEXTEV president Martin Leach. "Everyone at the team was shocked to hear about the earthquakes and we are thinking about those living on Kyushu. I would also like to say thank you to Ben Hanley for his understanding and wish him well in his racing in the European Le Mans Series this season."

Turvey is 14th in the Formula E drivers' standings, one place and six points clear of champion team-mate Nelson Piquet Jr.

He started his second Super GT campaign with the Drago Modulo Honda team with a difficult run to 12th at Aida last month, sharing the NSX Concept-GT with Hideki Mutoh.
