FE: Aguri Suzuki to leave his team

Ex-Formula 1 driver Aguri Suzuki is set to leave his his eponymous Formula E team at the end of the current season.

Team Aguri bosses are in a "period of consultation" over a potential change in ownership, after receiving a bid from what is believed to be a Chinese investment company. A team statement confirmed the bid means Suzuki, who ran his own F1 team from 2006 to 2008 and was a key part of the FE team's formation in late 2013, will end his role in "the coming months".

Team Aguri, which is the only FE team not registered as its own manufacturer, has undergone multiple changes in the last 12 months and is set to confirm a Renault powertrain supply for season three.

The new ownership, which will make the outfit a UK FE entrant, could be crucial to another aspect of Team Aguri's relationship with Renault. The French marque is heavily invested in China, and also has a commercial link to Japanese manufacturer Nissan through the Renault-Nissan alliance.Nissan is evaluating a move into the series, with commercial branding of Renault parts a possibility thanks to the Japanese-Franco relationship.

Team Aguri's statement said further announcements would be made in due course.
