F3: Hyman to miss Hungaroring round

Raoul Hyman will be missing from Carlin's line-up for this weekend's second round of the Formula 3 European Championship at the Hungaroring.

The London-based South African was nominated late in the day to fill Carlin's fourth and final seat for the opening round at Paul Ricard, in which he took a best result of 10th. But Carlin has reported budget problems for the 19-year-old, who raced in last weekend's British F3 round at Brands Hatch.

The team is hoping that this is a short-term issue and that Hyman will return to the European F3 cockpit should his sponsorship materialize.

T-SPORT SWITCHES ENGINE

Meanwhile, T-Sport has switched from the new ThreeBond engine to the British NBE powerplant for the Hungaroring. Arjun Maini struggled for pace in the Paul Ricard opener, despite finishing in the top 10 on his T-Sport debut with the ThreeBond unit in last November's Macau Grand Prix.

"We had some issues at Paul Ricard, and in the short timeframe of the championship it's very difficult to rectify the problems we had," team boss Russell Eacott told Autosport. "We needed to make a change to improve performance quickly for the sake of the season. We hope to get the car out with the ThreeBond engine at some point over the course of the year."

T-Sport was given the blessing of the other teams and the FIA to switch Maini from its #15 entry to its #14, which had no nominated driver, in order to avoid an engine-change grid penalty.
