GT: Yelloly makes sportscars switch

Force India Formula 1 simulator driver Nick Yelloly will switch from single-seaters to sportscars with a Porsche Carrera Cup drive in Germany this season.
Yelloly, a Formula Renault 3.5 and GP3 race winner, came close to a sportscar move for 2015 before a Jota LMP2 deal fell through. He instead contested most of the GP2 season, but will make the change of disciplines this year and join up with the Project 1 team that ran Phillipp Eng to both the Porsche Supercup and German titles in 2015.
"GTs will be my primary focus this year and the decision for me was very simple," said the 25-year-old. "Carrera Cup is growing in status year by year and provides better career prospects than single-seater categories unless one has a limitless budget, which unfortunately I do not.
"My goal for this year is to perform at the highest level every time I turn up on the grid and progress to either LMP1 or DTM over the next couple of years."
Yelloly will continue his Force India duties alongside his Carrera Cup move.
Project 1 team owner Hans-Bernd Kamps said signing Yelloly fitted his mission of developing "rookies from single-seater stars to GT champions".
He described Yelloly, who recently tested a Carrera Cup machine for the first time, as "super-quick and committed".
