V8 Supercars to drop Sydney Olympic park

This year's V8 Supercars season finale will be the last event around the streets of Homebush. The series has raced on a street circuit within the Sydney 2000 Olympics precinct since 2009. Pushed back from Nov. 25-27 to Dec. 2-4 due to a scheduling clash in the area, this year's event will be the last.
V8 Supercars is in discussions with the New South Wales government about setting up a new event, with a new street race in Gosford, an hour's drive north of Sydney, believed to be its favored outcome.
"We are continuing discussions with Destination NSW about the best location for 2017 and beyond but we believe the time is right to move from Sydney Olympic Park," V8 Supercars CEO James Warburton said.
