INDY LIGHTS: Rosenqvist takes St. Pete Race 2

Label Felix Rosenqvist a quick learner. In only his second start in the Indy Lights series, the 24-year-old Swede waxed the field Sunday morning at St. Petersburg.

Starting on the pole in his Belardi Racing Dallara-Mazda, Rosenqvist led all 45 laps and took the checkered flag by 4.7 seconds over Kyle Kaiser while teammate Zach Veach ran third in the other Belardi entry and Saturday victor Felix Serralles finished fourth.

"It was a long race and very physical but Belardi gave me a great car and, other than one back marker that wouldn't obey the move over flag, it was a perfect race," said Rosenqvist, the 2015 Euro Formula 3 champion. "You come to a new series you don't know what to expect, but we were right on pace the first laps and it's a good way to start the season."

Rosenqvist had qualified second for Saturday's opener but was plagued by engine-mapping issues and wound up seventh.

And it was the tale of two races for his teammate as well. Veach jumped from third to first in the first corner and led the first 17 laps of Saturday's race before a software glitch shut off his engine and ruined his day.

"I was looking at a sure win so that was tough to take but I felt good about bouncing back today," said Veach, who didn't race in 2015. "It's tough enough to sit out a year and then have to learn a new car but I've got a great team and, obviously, a fast teammate."

Starting third, Kaiser got past Veach early and held on for the third podium in his 18 Lights starts.

"Good day and a good weekend," said the 20-year-old Californian who drives for Juncos Racing.
