Eddie Jordan moves into 'Top Gear' role

Long-time Formula 1 team boss Eddie Jordan will be part of the presenter line-p for the BBC's new incarnation of Top Gear.

Jordan had been an analyst on the broadcaster's UK F1 coverage from 2009 to the end of last season, after which the BBC pulled out of the remainder of its deal Channel 4 stepped in as F1's UK free-to-air station.

Jordan will be one of two motorsport figures in the Chris Evans-fronted Top Gear lineup, joined by sportscar racer and Nurburgring Nordschleife specialist Sabine Schmitz.

"I have such enormous respect for all my fellow presenters and I politely ask that they go easy on these old bones," Jordan said.

The Top Gear lineup is completed by actor Matt LeBlanc and journalists Chris Harris and Rory Reid. The new-look show makes its debut in May.

David Coulthard is so far the only member of the BBC F1 team who has been confirmed as part of the Channel 4 F1 lineup.
