Schumacher's son set to race in India
Mick Schumacher, son of seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher, will contest the MRF Challenge finale in India. Schumacher, 16, who finished 10th in last season's German Formula 4 Championship, will contest the quadruple-header at the Irungattukottai track near Chennai.
The MRF Challenge, which traditionally attracts drivers from Europe and the Americas wanting off-season race mileage, is a centrally-run series with all cars based at the motorsport premises of tire giant MRF in Coimbatore. The cars feature two-liter Renault engines powering Dallara 'Formulino' chassis.
Pietro Fittipaldi, grandson of Emerson Fittipaldi, leads the current series after rounds in Abu Dhabi, Bahrain and Dubai. Fittipaldi's closest rivals are Russian Nikita Troitskiy and Colombian Tatiana Calderon. The 2015-'16 contest has also featured Harrison Newey, son of Red Bull technical wizard Adrian, and Giuliano Alesi, son of ex-Ferrari F1 star Jean.
Schumacher, who will not have driven the MRF car before this week, is expected to stay in German F4 for a second season in 2016.
